Irrigation / Syringing

We do not carry out ear irrigation or syringing. Microsuction is the most modern, advanced, safest, and pain-free form of ear wax removal.

How Ear Irrigation / Syringing Works

Ear Irrigation, or sometimes called low pressure irrigation, is a more controlled process than syringing, normally carried out by a trained nurse who can exert control over the water pressure depending on the amount of ear wax and the sensitivity of the patient.

However, the process still uses water, which isn't the best solution, due to the possibility that it can remain in the ear and cause an infection. There is also a significant risk of damage to the ear drum.

For this reason we do not carry out ear irrigation. Microsuction is the most modern, advanced, safest, and pain-free form of ear wax removal.

Home Cleaning Kits

There has been a recent insurgence of patients using home wax removal kits to remove impacted earwax. This is something that we DO NOT recommend, as they heighten the risk of self injury.
